Hermitude – HyperParadise

25 01 2012

The country’s premier beats duo soar to new heights on their fourth album HyperParadise. It follow the astonishing success of lead single Speak Of The Devil. HyperParadise is Hermitude hitting the bullseye of their artistic vision, a beautifully inventive record of future beats and electronica.

It’s not just their meticulousness in production and musicianship, it’s the passion and love they have for instrumental music that makes them so special. The songs are bubbling with personality: choruses leap out of songs demanding an emotional response, differing for each listener. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine the more notably adventurous R&B/soul vocalists wishing they could get their hands on the likes of All of You and HyperParadise.

Speak of the Devil has been one of the standout dancefloor tunes of 2011; thrashed by Australian radio; and winner of triple j’s 2011 J Award for Australian Music Video of the Year. It was also #9 in Rage’s Top 50 videos of 2011 and nominated for FBi’s SMAC Awards (Single and Video). Should we mention the international news yet? No. Save that one.

Hermitude have nurtured an affectionate and fiercely loyal audience over the years, commanding respect from the best in the beats business (DJ Krush, Glitch Mob).

They’re in a perfect position to take it up a few notches with the release of HyperParadise.

Tinie Tempah – Australian Tour (Win Tickets In Your City)

25 01 2012

Future Entertainment is pleased to announce that Mercury Prize nominated grime king Tinie Tempah, and drum n bass and dubstep duo Chase and Status are set to play three special UK flavoured solo shows during the Future Music Festival tour! Completing this powerhouse bill is the one co-headliners Chase and Status describe as “The voice of our generation”,  Zane Lowe.

Excitement is growing for the return of Tinie Tempah who is now performing with a full live band and is set to deliver a fast and furious show. With his roots in London’s underground scene, UK rap superstar Tinie hit the ground running with his monster anthem and debut single Wifey back in 2006. A cult hero with the UK rap fraternity, indie kids and grime rollers alike, this high octane MC has been kicking goals left right and centre.  2010 and 2011 have seen Tinie rise to global superstardom with his debut album Discovery producing the monster hits Pass Out, Written In The Stars, Swedish House Mafia collaboration Miami 2 Ibiza, Invincible Feat. Kelly Rowland and Till I’m Gone featuring Brooklyn rapper Wiz Khalifa. He’s also featured with Chase & Status on their track Hitz.

Tinie is set to go to go even larger in 2012 – particularly if his latest collaboration Earthquake with fellow UK rapper Labrinth is anything to go by. Having already scooped the pool with Best Breakthrough Act and Best Single chimes at the iconic 2011 Brit Awards, Best UK Hip Hop/Grime Act, Best Newcomer and Best Video at the Mobo Awards and Best solo artist at the GQ awards… the sky’s the limit for this eloquent hero. Chase & Status are two world-renowned producers on a bass-driven mission to make the genre their very own. Comprising of the skills of Saul Milton and Will Kennard, this barnstorming duo have been crafting DnB and Dubstep bombs and letting them loose on unsuspecting dance floors since 2003. Not content with writing and releasing their own music, the pair have been co-writing and producing for the world’s musical elite, working with Rihanna, Jay Z and Snoop Dog to name just a few.

With two stunning albums to their name (2009’s More Than A Lot and 2011’s No More Idols which is certified Double Platinum in the UK), an arsenal of A-List radio tracks boasting the killer likes of festival anthem Blind Faith, Pieces and End Credits co-written with Plan B, and their new single Flashing lights, the duo top the billing at festivals all over the planet with their incredible full live band.  Chase & Status are known across the globe as bringing the riot to dance music and this reputation has earned them a nomination for Best British Group at the 2012 Brit Awards along side industry giants they can now call their peers, Coldplay and the Arctic Monkeys. Chase & Status are at the top of their game and 2012 is only set to get bigger!

Rounding up this all-star line up, is Zane Lowe. In the legendary world of UK radio, there are few bigger stars on the airwaves than Mr Zane Lowe. Presenting his own self-titled show on BBC Radio 1 four nights a week, Zane is a certified tastemaker whose reputation for breaking hot new acts, the next big single and stars of the future is second to none. His track record of awarding his Fresh Meat Award is tantamount to this, with previous winners including household names like Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Kasabian and Kaiser Chiefs. A DJ in his own right, Zane’s mash, genre defying sound has seen him play support roles the likes of Muse, Foo Fighters and The Prodigy at sold-out stadium gigs, and feature at club nights and special events all over the world. The shows will take place in Sydney on Tuesday 6th March, Melbourne on Thursday 8th March and Brisbane on Tuesday 13th March.

Seth Sentry – My Scene

25 01 2012

By now, it’s safe to say that Seth Sentry is a people-person. His success has been by way of fans, and in the increasingly-divided Australian hip hop scene, he’s respected by all corners. Undoubtedly, a lot of this is owed to the guy’s skills as an MC. He writes great stuff and delivers it like a champ. But a lot of it comes down to the fact that, as a guy, Seth Sentry isn’t caught up in a whole mess of bullshit.

While a garden-variety MC’s mandatory shtick is to state, over and over again, who they are and who they ain’t; Seth’s journey has been more ‘who am I?’ Rather than tell tales of his own fictitious legend, he looks out at the world and reports back on what he sees. People, places, experiences… from one observer’s perspective.

My Scene – the first single from Seth’s highly-anticipated debut album – is the perfect case in point. Humorously and light-heartedly (because not everything needs to be the darkest thing that ever existed) Seth steers us through scenarios that reiterate his outlook on life… that any scene you can find has enough cool people in it to make for a worthwhile visit now and again, but some people just aren’t meant for permanent residence in any one scene. No single lifestyle or ethos can sum up an entire person. Without any attempt at being so, My Scene is a declaration of independent thought. A kind of ‘live and let live’ thing.

With a witty turn-of-phrase, a hypnotic vocal tone and an ear for a head-nodding beat; Seth Sentry’s signature sound is all over My Scene. First rising to prominence when triple j Unearthed his debut track The Waitress Song, Seth Sentry’s place in the Australian music landscape became solidified when listeners began bombarding the station with requests to play The Waitress Song. It had connected with people in a big way, eventually placing at number 31 on that year’s coveted Hottest 100. Seth and brother-in-arms Pez ventured out on a 31 date national tour, and so began a new name in local hip hop. As a taste of the album to come, My Scene is but one flavour of many. As a first bite, though, it’s one that says a lot about the guy in the kitchen.

Mantra 2011 Wrap Up

23 01 2012

2011 was an unheralded year for Mantra, your favourite rapper’s favourite rapper – as he’s widely known. Mantra had been lighting a fire under the genre as we know it with the release of his much talked about second solo album Speaking Volumes in September.

After supporting Drapht on his Life of Riley National Tour and performing at the Come Together festival at Luna Park in Sydney earlier this year, Mantra was readying fans for what was to come…

The album’s first single Got Me Wrong feat. Parvyn Kaur Singh received high rotation on triple j, and was their most requested song during the week of its release. Shortly after the EP hit shelves, Mantra took his new set-list on the road for the Mantra Speaking Volumes Tour which featured special guests Tommy Illfigga, Ellesquire, In Good Company and more. Renowned for his involvement with hip-hop mentorship programs, Mantra (whilst simultaneously juggling his hip hop career) ran weekly workshops at juvenile justice centres in Melbourne with Dig Deep and Fresh Mob during the entirety of 2011.

Mantra also released the brand new music video for his second single from sophomore release Speaking Volumes  – Voodoo Music. Mantra also helped out on numerous other projects, including Drapht’s The Life Of Riley album, the In Good Company self titled LP and also Ishu’s – World In Progress & more.
