Beat Basement Records are pleased to announce the release date of the self-titled, debut album Basement Grits. Consisting of label beat makers Develop and Apollo Grimez, emcees Ricky Shamroxx and Diggis and hip hop deejay/beat maker Dex Mo’, Basement Grits fusion of talent delivers a uniquely fresh sound, laced with grooves, boom bap beats and word play, whilst remaining true to the traditional form of hip hop music.
With beats cherry picked from the best of the three beat makers, Basement Grits is an album devoid of filler-type tracks, firing off from the word go through 10 tracks of head nodding goodness, with the sole purpose of driving the sword firmly in the dirt and establishing this crew from Cairns’ skill set amongst the wave of new artists emerging in today’s local hip hop scene.
Keeping to the basic fundamentals, Basement Grits emcees Diggis and Ricky Shamroxx hold no illusions of grandeur, counter balancing each other on style and flow on each track, whilst both shining independently verse for verse. The content spans from straight out hard representing on tracks like Lyrical Genocide and Heroes to more localised subject matter on joints such as Live N Ill and Homegrown with everything in-between covered by consistency in concepts, dope flows and punchy verses.
The overall combination of these five artists does more than fill 40 minutes of music time under the one banner. It gels and gives birth to a sound that personifies the true grit of Beat Basement Records. Hip Hop music, that will make your body sway and your head nod, whether you dabble in the genre or are a seasoned true vet of Hip Hop.
Basement Grits is available on vinyl August 31st direct from links below, iTunes and good independent record stores.
