Alex Ford x Esta The Wild Imagination

Alex Ford a Hip Hop artist from Perth, Western Australia who has just released his debut EP The Wild Imagination digitally. It is a free release. In 2009 he travelled to Los Angeles with then Hypersonic Records label mate Dialekt to record and film a few music videos (including the song “I’m in LA” featuring Sen Dogg of Cypress Hill fame).

In 2010 the CEO of Hypersonic Records disbanded the company due to financial and personal problems. Seeing this as an opportunity rather than a drawback, Ford made a fresh start and decided to put the experience and knowledge he gained abroad to practice. He then travelled to Vancouver, Canada to study music business at Nimbus School of Recording Arts, with hopes of using this knowledge to establish creative and artistic relationships between Australian and Canadian artists.

Whilst in Canada, Ford soon caught the attention of Grammy Award winner and super producer Chin Injeti (Eminem, Drake, Aloe Blacc). He began working with the label and it was not long before he was given the opportunity to record at the personal studio of Garth Richardson (best known for his work with Rage Against the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers). The collaborations with Injeti and Richardson can be heard in Contagious and I Get High.

In 2013, Ford moved back to his hometown of Perth to begin work on his debut EP The Wild Imagination at Gold Dust Construction with engineer Andrew Wright and sent it to Vancouver to be mastered. It is the culmination of Ford’s formative years in Perth, Los Angeles and Vancouver and he feels he is “at a place where I finally feel very confident and comfortable with my sound”.
