The Tongue You Got Me feat. Mataya

With trademark dynamic lyricism, the tongue is back with a truly international sound.

The first offering from The Tongues forthcoming album, ‘You Got Me’ draws on temptation, seduction and losing yourself to the enchantment of love. With energy, momentum and a hint of urgency, the tongue spins a tale of desire and amorousness, a universal concept within a modern sounding banger.

The Tongue is constantly pushing the boundaries of the industries climate, with a career that has seen him collaborate with everyone from Suffa (Hilltop Hoods), Illy and Thundamentals through to singer Bertie Blackman and dance-act the Bag Raiders, The Tongue is always redefining the sound of local hip hop.

Beneath the playful confidence developed from his years as a battle MC, you can hear the influence of speech therapy, the spoken word event he curates. With words as his weapons, the spotlight descends on his verse, his intellect, his wit and his deft articulation.

Papertoy’s refined production embraces fresh and contemporary sonics, pushing him to the forefront of innovation and making him a producer to watch. 808s and retro-tuned synths with the rhythm punctuating the verses, carving out enough room to emphasise the melodic inflections of Mataya (featured on Hermitude’s ‘the buzz’). The triple time hi-hats driving the song to a build and allowing freedom in the arrangement to focus all significance on The Tongue and his wordplay.

With this new single, The Tongue has developed a truly international sound, where dance-floor rocking beats meet thought-provoking lyrics.

‘You Got Me’ ft. Mataya will be available on iTunes on September 18th, through Elefant Traks / Inertia. Via Elefant Traks.
