Delta stands unparalleled as a seasoned cultural ambassador for purist hip hop in Australia. Since releasing The Second Story three years ago, the hip hop world has been anxiously awaiting his next release. Beloved for his dependable quality of production, lyricism and execution, Delta is a champion of his craft.
The first single from upcoming album Pyramid Schemes (due late 2012) is Alien, a hypnotic sample-heavy track which explores human identity outside of the rat race, among the infinite cosmos that lies beyond. Alien is introduced by a foreword from the father and original architect of hip hop, DJ Kool Herc, setting the tone for the astronomical musical journey ahead.
“In an age where it may seem that dumbing lyrics down has been embraced as the norm, the average person is left wondering whether their real-world struggles are being represented poetically, or going completely unnoticed. As an artist it is my responsibility to try share the feelings of my listeners” – Delta
With strong 80’s electronic influences, Delta’s own production creates a soundscape of equally nostalgic scifi imagery, the perfect backdrop for the subjects at hand. Alien is available through Nuffsaid & Obese Records today.

Lyrics: (verse one) As soon as I heard the sirens I looked for the nearest spot that I could hide in Leapt over a fire hydrant to slide in… Between a Merc’ and some white thing They shone the light in, forced me to scatter like a cockraoch They got close, I’m cooking under pressure like a pot roast Blokes like me have got choked once caught So that one thought alone makes me run towards.. This one door that’s half open, so I’m scopin’ Around to check if the coast is clear, here’s hopin’ Dashed for the doorway, heard a crash I turned and saw two pigs; one with a mustache The other with tatts and a toothpick Latched onto my backpack before his shoes slipped I squeezed through the opening Into a lounge room full of startled people on the sofa when… The pigs rush in, said “Hold it, ya black c*nt!” C’mon man, I ain’t that dumb Ran through the kitchen, slipped in some liquid, stumbled Felt a swift kick in the ribs, made me crumble Got to my feet, right hook to his chin Sent him head first into the bread bin Pig number two came through like a raged bull Crash tackled me into the the dining table, sounding like… Glass and plates flying everywhere The pig dancing on my face like Fred Astaire Shield my head before it gets mangled Reached for a fork then stuck it in his f*ckin’ ankle I got up, a head-butt sent him backwards My 1, 2′s strong, laid him out like a futon mattress Stopped to catch my breath Til more pigs came, now it’s time to jet!
(chorus) Feet don’t fail me now I keep running, running…
(verse two) Out the backdoor fast as Usain Or Bruce Wayne out the Bat Cave, exhausting blue flames Pigs close behind I feel their breath on my neck, it’s time to kick into overdrive Run down the alley, someone opens up their car door I leap over using the wall like it was parkour Made it to the main street, skipping through traffic Nearly hit by a taxi Over the hood, rolling off like a gymnast Inches away from being permanently injured Slightly winded, but I move like the wind did Sprinted towards the subway, as I entered… A cop shot up in the air, everybody hit the deck Except me, I was outta there, down the stairs Onto the platform, jumped a train But when two cops came the train pulled off I looked around the car To see if there were any cops to round me up Got me pacing, walking down and up It’s looking like it’s sound as f*ck So I crash on the seat, feeling safer Thinking ’bout them c*nts and how they lumped my face up Next station, I’m stepping off But six pigs on the platform, shit, once again it’s on!
Lyrics: (chorus one) I’ve got my pen in hand and I’m writing for the life of me Sometimes it’s like hide-n-seek, writing down what I can see I got a blank piece of paper and vast vocab so… Let’s see where it takes me (x3)
True penmanship, nothing could ever censor this… mind state, don’t try mate, that could result in endless dentist trips Or drips from the IV Pen is hand and got the b*tch in a tight squeeze Writing with the intent to hurt like a parking inspector That’s just part of the repertoire Fast as some zebras are dashing through dry grass Passion for style & refusing to be type casted B*astard way of thinking, when I’m linking the two When you’re facing these bars like some chimps in a zoo Please don’t feed the lion/ lyin’ cos only the truth is heard The sign on the door says, “Do Disturb”, come on in…
(chorus one)
(verse two) I knew the truth like the back of my hand Made my way home, like you see the turtle’s tracks in the sand Or like removalists packin’ a van, time to relo- cate, mind state, kill the ego What’s happening man? You chillin’? Heard they made the world a safer… Place to be in since they killed that villain Not sure how I’m feelin’ but I do know that killin’ is killin’ And there’s always loved ones illin’ Fillin’ in holes that are six-feet deep Or just dump the body out in the sea Yeah, it’s a grim world, lives controlled through Intel But I’m in my own, so let the ink spill…
(chorus two) Hey young world, what’s happening out there? Are you feeling good? Put up a fist if you’ve felt better days than today So tell me how you… gonna make it better? This is the sound to… to get it together. Get it together…
(verse three) It ain’t nothin’ to knock that stuffin’… Out of the beat. I don’t need weed to puff in- Fact, I’m stone cold sober: Steve Austin Run the rhythm like some Adidas Torsions Cautions and warnings, calling the storm in Here’s some rain and hail, nail the boards in Thoughts in progress, no stress, no sweat I already got what you don’t get Yeah, I’m a pro, vet, old school king etcetera Ahead of the class you can’t pass or enter the… Percentile I’m in, I do it no problem Cos I do it often You wanna swim with the big fish? Get Your swimming tog then Huegill, yeah, I blow my own bugle Not talking ’bout drawings when I say, “you like to doodle” Oodles and oodles of O’s, I got the ’91 flow… Refixed for the 21st Century Do a show, break a leg with no injury Got a tendency to mention me often Cos if I don’t, who will? So dude, chill My track records like a news reel Take the ‘land’ from the name, you’re left with ‘New Zeal…” Causing an Urban Disturbance Superb since I came through the curtains Making the most of… So I learn from my mistakes I just hope you’re as good as me when you’re this age…
The Silent Titan’s debut album For The Rest of My Days is brought to the world through the creative mind of Tomasz Charuk aka Tommy Fiasko, of the Thundamentals. Producing music for almost ten years, this album has been a long time coming. The Silent Titan is a Blue Mountains based artist drawing influence from producers such as DJ Premier, Black Milk, J Dilla and local Australian stalwarts Hermitude. The Silent Titan flips his unique style upon the album, while developing a body of music which is sure to be heard loud and clear in the modern hip hop movement.
The Silent Titan – For the Rest of My Days (sampler)
Building upon his earlier work, The Silent Titan comes forth with an album laced with hip hop tradition and a love of classic soul, jazz, and psychedelic music. The album sparkles with detail, utilizing classic breaks, programmed synthesis and beats, over lush melodic samples. In addition, collaborations with an array of local musicians complement the album’s swagger and patient cohesion. Loosely based on a ‘beat-tape’ style format, For The Rest of My Days… is a combination of instrumental tracks and collaborative vocal arrangements. From the smooth Waiting feat. Jace Excell, to the cinematic electro laced The Last Laugh feat. MED, the album creates an atmosphere unlike any other Australian release.
For The Rest of My Days… shows that Fiasko has grown tremendously as a producer from the 2008 Thundamentals EP, and their acclaimed full length album Sleeping On Your Style (2009, Obese Records). The album boasts some very special guests in MED and OH NO (Stones Throw Records), and Prince Po (Organized Konfusion); also introducing Jace Excell, a Blue Mountains resident via Brooklyn, New York, who entertains with his silky, soulful vocals.

Koolism has started their journey back into the game and in this video you get to play fly on the wall and watch Hau laying down the first verse to Koolism’s new single, Can’t Stand It. Ignorant crew duck down!
Canberra’s finest, Koolism, are back! The mighty combination of emcee Hau Latukefu and DJ Danielsan Ichiban return more vitriolic, more pissed off, than ever. On Can’t Stand It, Hau takes fire at the Australian government’s policy of refugee detaining, the seeming hypocracy of lambasting Pauline Hanson but cheering for her on Dancing With The Stars and the general air of insouciance and apathy.
Can’t Stand It is the first taste of Koolism’s long-awaited fourth record The Umu which will drop later this year. (Aug/Sept) Be prepared to think while you dance. Stay tuned for more production footage, recording sessions and other shenanigans from The Dojo Studios and KOA HQ, as the boys create their brand-spankin’ new album, The Umu (pron. oo-moo).
This is the demo version of a track, Soundtrack to My Life. It was recorded in 2005 in Hau’s cousin’s studio/shed in the suburbs of Sydney. Everyone thought it would be interesting for you guys to hear what the original music was like before transforming into the released version found on the 2006 Koolism album, New Old Ground.
Obviously this didn’t get mixed as it was just used as a guide before tackling the proper recording, so bare with the roughness of the sound. You can file this info & tune under ‘interesting fact’.
Be sure to head over and check out Koolism.com and also the blog. You can find all the links below.
To kick off this corporate day of love, Hau from Koolism is celebrating with a free mixtape for all ‘Love the Beast’.Named after theEric Bana doco, it’s bits and pieces Hau’s been working on, with original beats and other people’s instrumentals. Jacob Giles helped Hau put this one together but we also see a track produced by Katalyst (Space Invaders) and MGO on the artwork (Obeast Records ‘Badder Than Osama’….classic!). To grab this banging mixtape click here.
Hau has also been busy working on his own blog which you can check out, by following the link here. Feel free to share the love on this V-Day and give this mixtape to your special someone.
