Hilltop Hoods – ‘I Love It’ Feat. Sia

25 11 2011

Hilltop Hoods make their highly anticipated return to the airwaves this month with their brand new single ‘I Love It’ Feat. Sia, which is set to drop through their own label Golden Era Records/UMA today, with production by South Australian newcomer One Above.

The single features arrangements from Jamie Messenger performed by the Bacchanalia String Quartet. It also features a special guest performance by Sia in her first collaboration with the Hoods. Their first single since 2009 and the first taste of their impending album, Drinking From The Sun, the single release also coincides with the bands first live appearances in almost 18 months as they head out on the road with Eminem in December and Big Day Out in January.

Due out February 2012 Drinking From The Sun speaks to the experience of being part of an underground culture that’s risen from obscurity to gain mainstream recognition. Even though this album is more introspective than their previous releases it maintains a balance of moody tracks and party joints that the Hoods are best known for. The album also has a fair amount of live instrumentation, and will feature a number of local and international guests.

The forthcoming release looks set to build on the success that has seen Hilltop Hoods win multiple ARIA awards, achieve double platinum album sales and play to sold out venues around Australia as well as overseas.

I love It is released today – Grab it now. - Drinking From The Sun will be released February 2012

Methodz – Winner of the “Marked For Death” Remix Competition

30 10 2011

Australian producer Methodz produces a stomper remix of Vents – Marked For Death. The illusive Melbourne producer Methodz is a member of the Cheapskates Crew which include Katchem, Seedy Cest and Vawn A.G on the cuts.

Growing up in Melbourne he was always fascinated by the fact that most classic albums started in a bedroom/ basement and he credits Alchemist as his biggest influence among many. Other than his own crew Methodz has worked with Brad Strut, Shawn Lov, Maundz, Raven and Fluent Form to name a few and hopes to expand this list very soon.

When describing his sound he says “It’s soft and soulful but can also just be straight banging.” Which most would agree with. Currently Methodz is working on a project with Katchem, as well as several other undisclosed projects. Methodz won the Vents remix competition for his take on the track Marked For Death. He beat out some of the countries top producers. His entry was hand picked from close to 100 entries to take the top spot. In addition to a great prize pack he also gets the Golden Era feature so hopefully more people will check out his music.

You can download his winning entry as well as his Remix tape Murder Rap n’ Pillage where he remixes artists such as Mobb Deep, MF Doom, Sean Price and much more. The guys at Golden Era Records wish Methodz the best of luck in his future career!
