Bliss N Eso Announce New Album ‘Circus In The Sky’ + ‘House Of Dreams’ Tour

20 05 2013

The Frontier Touring Company and Illusive are excited to announce iconic hip-hop trio Bliss N Eso’s highly-anticipated return to the touring circuit this July with their House of Dreams tour. This tour announcement comes off the back of the release of Home Is Where The Heart Is - the first official single from their upcoming new album Circus In The Sky.

Bliss N Eso Circus In the Sky album cover

The six-date tour will cover all mainland capital cities in the band’s first headline tour since 2011 when they embarked on the highest-selling tour by an Australian hip-hop act. This is the first chance fans will get to experience the tracks from Circus In The Sky in the flesh, alongside the cult classics from their back catalogue. Bliss N Eso will be joined by two very special guests – Alabama’s rising star Yelawolf and local superstar Pez.

Since signing to Eminem’s Shady Records in 2011, Yelawolf has become one of the world’s most hyped emerging rap artists. In the years since, he’s released his critically acclaimed debut album Trunk Muzik and featured on tracks alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Big Boi, A$AP Rocky, Big K.R.I.T. and Travis Barker just to name a few.

Melbourne’s Pez made his welcome return to the spotlight in recent months with the release of his latest single The Game and is tipped for an enormous 2013. Bliss N Eso have also confirmed the release date for their upcoming new album Circus In The Sky as Friday 28 June 2013. It follows on from 2010’s hugely acclaimed Running On Air which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart and achieved platinum sales.

Solidifying their reputation as artists that love to pack as much value as possible into each release, they’ve delivered another 17-track epic with a running time of an hour. As rumoured, it features a guest appearance from New York hip-hop icon Nas on I Am Somebody – arguably their biggest feature to date. Further down the tracklisting are appearances from nomadic Melbourne soul export Daniel Merriweather on Can’t Get Rid of This Feeling and rising American singer-songwriter Ceekay Jones, whom the boys befriended on their most recent US headline tour. Possibly the most interesting inclusion on the tracklist comes via posse cut Reservoir Dogs, which features a who’s who of contemporary local hip-hop – seeing them joined by 360, Pez, Seth Sentry and Drapht.

The mysterious winged character that has inhabited the band’s two previous album covers has made its third appearance on the newly revealed ‘Circus in the Sky’ artwork, albeit in an unexpected form. Following from Steve Cross’ illustrated covers on Flying Colours and Running On Air, the band have teamed up with world-renowned digital artist Justin Maller to create a spectacularly vivid piece which sees the character looking towards Earth from afar. Justin is a Melburnian living in New York who has worked with the likes of Nike, Coca-Cola and the Grammys.

Circus In The Sky is now available for pre-orderr. There are a half a dozen pre-order options which include a digital version (including instant Home Is Where The Heart Is single download); signed CDs accompanied by t-shirts, iPhone covers and stubby holders alongside bundled packs including the album and House Of Dreams Tour tickets.

Circus In The Sky drops June 28, through Illusive.

Running It hits iTunes on March 9th through Illusive SoundsAfter releasing his debut album in 2011, Joelistics returns with the new single The Shining—pushing his sound further outside the realms of hip hop, into a land of pulsing, anthemic electro and lush electronica.

Xzibit – Australian Tour

1 09 2011

In news sure to thrill hip hop fans, Illusive are pleased to announce the return of hip hop heavyweight Xzibit to our shores in November. Xzibit marks his return to Australia after almost five years with a whirlwind tour that sees him cover 11 venues in a just over a fortnight. Alongside capital cities, X will grace Newcastle, Cairns, Townsville, Traralgon and Hobart for the first time ever.

Recognised as a true West Coast stalwart and ‘one of the most respected rappers in the game’ (Rolling Stone), Xzibit first came to public attention in the late ’90s with his debut album ‘At The Speed of Light’ (1996) and ‘40 Dayz & 40 Nightz’ (1998). He enjoyed his first major success when he joined with Snoop Dogg for the Dr. Dre produced hit Bitch Please. The Dre association continued with ‘What’s the Difference’, ‘Lolo’ and ‘Some L.A. Niggaz’ on Dre’s seminal Chronic 2001 album, which led to Xzibit’s inclusion on what is arguably the most infamous hip hop tour of all time – Up in Smoke, alongside the likes of Snoop, Eminem, and Ice Cube.

In the same year, Xzibit released ‘Restless’, which featured club anthems ‘X’ and ‘Get Your Walk On’, and was certified platinum in the US within a matter of weeks. In 2002, Xzibit followed this up with ‘Man vs. Machine’ – another huge commercial success, which featured the smash ‘Multiply’, and 2004’s ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’, featuring ‘Hey Now (Mean Muggin’)’.

Outside of the musical realm, Xzibit was – of course – the host of MTV’s wildly sucessful Pimp My Ride series from 2004 to 2007, which introduced his music to millions of new fans and made him a household name across the globe. In recent times, Xzibit is currently locked down in the studio at work on his highly anticipated comeback LP (due out in 2012).

Recognised as one of the most electrifying live hip-hop artists, with nearly two decades of classic material up his sleeve, Xzibit’s return to Australian shores promises to be a night to remember for the those that get their hands on tickets.

Bliss N Eso’s National Tour Selling Out Fast!

15 03 2011

Bliss N Eso’s winning streak continues, with tickets to their highly anticipated Running on Air tour being snapped up quickly across the country. Shows at Melbourne’s Festival Hall and the Sunshine Coast SOLD OUT within days. Sydney and Hobart are now on final ticket release, with Brisbane, Mt. Gambier, Coff’s Harbour and Hobart not far behind.

The winning towns of Bliss N Eso’s innovative Facebook competition have come out in force. With the demand being much higher than what a standard regional venue can accommodate for, the band have created makeshift venues across the country, performing in the courtyard of Old Mt. Gambier Gaol and at Coff’s Harbour Showgrounds (generally only used for festivals).

As they left the stage the crowd immediately began to stamp, clap, cheer and whistle until the place was practically shaking. In fact, I’m pretty sure it was the loudest crowd (outside of a festival) that I have been a part of. I left after the show with such a buzz that not even the riot cops waiting outside could dampen my spirit.” – The AU Review

The entire tour is set to sell out within a matter of weeks, so punters are encouraged to get their tickets quickly or miss out on what promises to be one of the most electrifying tours of 2011. The Running On Air tour is supported by Elefant Traks Horrorshow crew and Big B (USA).

Jagermeister Independent Music Awards – Hip Hop Focus

28 09 2010
Proudly presented by Channel [V], NOVA, and MySpace, the fifth Annual Jagermeister Independent Music Awards (formally known as the Jagermeister AIR Awards) will be held on Friday October 1st at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
The event is a rare opportunity to join great Australian Musicians and the Industry at large, as they celebrate success with the Award winners, and enjoy performances by some of the country’s most sought after artists.
The Jagermeister Independent Music Awards  are Australia’s only official independent music awards, rewarding the country’s highest achieving independent artists across all genres, in any given year.
The evening will feature performances from those purveyors of punk, hardcore rockers The Amity Affliction; new indie darlings and vintage-alt-pop stars Cloud Control; virtuosic jazz pianist Joe Chindamo; indie wunderkids and brit-rock exponents British India; the intoxicating world-renowned singer-songwriter Sally Seltmann; and a hip-hop extravaganza from M-Phazes with Illy, Muph & Candice Monique, Solo and Mantra which promises some electric on-stage collaborations.
Awards to be presented during the evening include Best Independent Dance / Electronic Release, Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Hip Hop/Urban Release and Best Independent Hard Rock/Punk Release among others, with a number of high profile special guest presenters on hand to help with proceedings.
Now in their fifth year, The Jagermeister Independent Music Awards  continue to grow and are now recognised as a barometer for future ‘big’ acts.  Previous winners include Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, The Hilltop Hoods, The Herd, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Gotye, British India, Sneaky Sound System and John Butler, many of whom have gone on to major commercial and critical success subsequently.
Given the depth of such Label and Artist success, Independent Music can no longer be viewed as just small or emerging. Independent labels are currently estimated to have 80% of titles on shelves and online, and continue to have the biggest winning scorecard every year from the ARIA awards to triple j’s Hottest 100, while also providing the bulk of talent to the Australian festival circuit each year.
Curated and created by the Australian Independent Record Label Association (AIR), this year’s Jagermeister Independent Music Awards  will be the jewel in the crown of ‘Melbourne Music’, a 10-day music festival programme presented by The City of Melbourne. AIR is a (non-profit, non-government) national trade association promoting and representing the interests and development of Australian independent artists, labels and music companies in Australia and throughout the world.
