New Music: Mr Hill & Rahjconkas – ‘Dead End Street’ feat. Muph

31 03 2013

After a highly productive debut year in 2012, March 2013 sees the 2nd single release for one of local hip hop’s hardest working up and coming duo’s Mr Hill & Rahjconkas. In the space of one year they have firmly made a place for themselves in the industry and gained respect and accolades from genre veterans.

Dead End Street feat. Muph

2013 is shaping up to be no different. Since the release of their first single in October 2012 Put The Work In, popularity for this young duo has gained increasingly. Being chosen by triple j unearthed to play at Brisbane’s hiphop festival Sprung, saw the boys perform on a major platform with overwhelming support.

These “Next Crop” artists are back with their latest single and title track to the new release. Dead End Street. An energetic brass section with catchy vocal samples line a once again powerful chorus delivered by Rahjconkas. Again showing their solidarity with veteran artists, Australian hip hop legend Muph (Muph & Plutonic) has thrown a guest verse down for this single. Speaking about where he has come from as an artist to where he is now.

With Mr Hill being based in Brisbane QLD, and Rahjconkas in Wagga Wagga NSW, collaborating is always difficult. But with several short trips to each other’s homes this album has again come together quite easily in the space of 10 months. Proving to the critics their constant drive and work ethic. Set to release May 17th around the country, this is the second taste of what this new and highly anticipated album will sound like. High energy, charismatic, yet at times deep and thought provoking.

Mr Hill is currently on tour until April with his best friend Seven as they travel the country supporting Australian icon Drapht on his uni-verse tour. They are again planning on hitting the road in June on their own headline tour to all major capital cities following the release of Dead End Street.

Put The Work In – Mr. Hill and Rahjconkas

15 10 2012

Amidst the continued stair-climb by Brisbane collective Born Fresh to set a foundation for quality local hiphop in the city; Mr Hill and Rahjconkas release Put The Work In, the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album Dead End Street.

2012 has been a busy year for the duo, following the successful reception of their debut LP The Feedback, with tours, guest appearances and collaborations presenting themselves consistently. Since January, the two have toured with label-mate Seven, 360, Seth Sentry, Illy and the Funkoars as well as supporting US successes Atmosphere and Evidence and locals Thundamentals, Urthboy and Spit Syndicate. There was even time for interstate headline and Victorian Flood Benefit shows, as well as Mr Hill grossing over 100 000 youtube views with a remix side-project with Seven.

Even with a plate so obviously full, the geographically disadvantaged boys put forth their new single Put The Work In just 9 months after the release of their debut LP. Put The Work In honour’s the ethic of the two and their peers, hinting at picking up the shovel and digging, rather than waiting for the world to come for them. With a very successful 2012 almost in the bag, quickly leap frogging others in the genre, Mr Hill and Rahjconkas are preparing to go even bigger in 2013.
