The Herd have just dropped their new video clip for the single The Sum Of It All, a slamming tune heavy on melody and an unexpected melancholy. It’s the first taste of their fifth album, due later this year. The single premiered on triple j and Elefant Traks are happy to announce that The Sum Of It All is now available to download as a high-quality mp3 here on iTunes.
Directed by Prad Senanayake (responsible for clips by the likes of Oh Mercy, Spit Syndicate and 360 & Pegz), the video for The Herd’s new single is a gritty, psychedelic pass through a constantly decaying and rebuilding landscape. It features scanning technology that was shot “using an infra red depth camera on a hacked gaming console”. The resulting Matrix-like binary degradation of the band’s features, sits well with the tracks tale of identity loss and character flatlining. Or maybe they just really dig hacking game consoles. Firing thriller beats across four sound stages will be Melbourne’s: Anchors, Children Collide, Deez Nuts, Dream On Dreamer, Hopeless, House Vs Hurricane, Trainwreck, Metals, Oh Mercy,Owl Eyes and 2econds, plus Howl and Gold Fields from Ballarat, I Exist from Canberra, Brisbane’s Violent Soho and Last Dinosaurs, Gisbourne’s Stonefield, The Storm Picturesque from Newcastle and Perth’s Break Even and Young Revelry.
In the hip hop arena, alongside headliners, Illy, 1/6 feat. MzRizk, The Tongue (Sydney) and Thirdworld, will be 3-on-3 Breakin’ and 1-on-1 MC Battles, plus the Push Underground Hip Hop Showcase featuring: Defon & Illyak, Filosopher and Mixed Alliance, and your host Yung Philly.
As well as featuring all your fave upcoming Aussie bands, Push Over will showcase the freshest young Victorian talent in the FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands Grand Final with nine bands from across the state battling it out to be crowed the 2010-11 Series Winner – including Amber Lamps, Blackwater Riff, Cass Ward, Emerson, Kyrano, Passport For Amy, People of the Sun, Rizen Enemy and The Fire Alive.
