Hermitude – The Villain

22 11 2012

Hermitude’s astonishing rise is set to continue as they announce a new single and 2013 tour. They’ve released worldwide (Regal/Parlophone & Astralwerks), sold out countless shows across Australia and internationally and in the process catapulted themselves into the festival circuit with spots at Groovin The Moo, Parklife and Homebake.

Their production work has been in solid demand with remixes for The Presets, Missy Higgins and co-production credits on Urthboy’s acclaimed Smokey’s Haunt album. They won an AIR Award for Best Dance/Electronic Release and have been nominated for two ARIAs (Best Dance Release & Best Video) and a j award for Australian Album of the Year.

The Villain is the fourth single from HyperParadise. It’s a dark and pulsating piece of beat wizardry, designed to destroy club & festival PAs. The accompanying music video directed by Kess Broekman-Dattner, sees Hermitude continue on with the dance theme made famous by their j award-winning video for Speak of the Devil, only this time there’s a heist-like twist.

They will be supported by South Africa-via-Australia’s Jonti, a star on the rise whose Sine & Moon album was released on the legendary Stones Throw label. Jonti returns home to Australia having just supported Gotye across North America and Europe.

15 10 2012

The Silent Titan comes forth with his second solo production record since his debut, For The Rest of My Days dropped worldwide in September, 2011. Travel, movement, time, space, speculation, nostalgia, and observation; These everyday circumstances are the themes highlighted on this record.

The Silent Titan aka Tom Charuk is a producer from Australia working consistently behind the boards to develop a worldwide following through his hip-hop roots.Soulful, hard hitting, sample heavy production, seamlessly intertwined with live instrumentation, synthesis, and an array of talented vocalists, makes this release a monumental benchmark in  The Silent Titan’s ever expanding portfolio.

Always providing originality with his beats, Tom’s intrinsic, genuine approach to beat making is dynamic, professional and without exception, from the heart. Tom is determined to make his chosen career path a success, through working and developing with artists who are mostly considered ‘underground’, and maintaining a position in the scheme of the Hip hop world.

With the album featuring tracks from lyrical legends Prince Po (Bad Habits Ent.), Oddisee (Mello Music Group), MED (Stones Throw Records), Journalist 103 (Mello Music Group), Rock (Duck Down records) and the soulful voice of Jace Excell; Tom’s prowess and growth as a producer is demonstrated exceptionally. The Silent Titan – For The Rest Of My Days (Out March 11, pre-order below)

7 03 2011

The Silent Titan’s debut album For The Rest of My Days is brought to the world through the creative mind of Tomasz Charuk aka Tommy Fiasko, of the Thundamentals. Producing music for almost ten years, this album has been a long time coming. The Silent Titan is a Blue Mountains based artist drawing influence from producers such as DJ Premier, Black Milk, J Dilla and local Australian stalwarts Hermitude. The Silent Titan flips his unique style upon the album, while developing a body of music which is sure to be heard loud and clear in the modern hip hop movement.

The Silent Titan – For the Rest of My Days (sampler)

Building upon his earlier work, The Silent Titan comes forth with an album laced with hip hop tradition and a love of classic soul, jazz, and psychedelic music. The album sparkles with detail, utilizing classic breaks, programmed synthesis and beats, over lush melodic samples. In addition, collaborations with an array of local musicians complement the album’s swagger and patient cohesion. Loosely based on a ‘beat-tape’ style format, For The Rest of My Days… is a combination of instrumental tracks and collaborative vocal arrangements. From the smooth Waiting feat. Jace Excell, to the cinematic electro laced The Last Laugh feat. MED, the album creates an atmosphere unlike any other Australian release.

For The Rest of My Days… shows that Fiasko has grown tremendously as a producer from the 2008 Thundamentals EP, and their acclaimed full length album Sleeping On Your Style (2009, Obese Records). The album boasts some very special guests in MED and OH NO (Stones Throw Records), and Prince Po (Organized Konfusion); also introducing Jace Excell, a Blue Mountains resident via Brooklyn, New York, who entertains with his silky, soulful vocals.

The Silent Titan’s –  For The Rest of My Days is set to get heads nodding from Sydney to San Francisco.
