We have done a post about this concert already (here), but it was such a long time ago that we thought we would refresh your memory about this one. The Herd are rolling through town for their last headline show in over a year.  It’s been a crazy 12 months, complete with top ten charting album, ARIA nomination, J Award for Best Video (2020), AIR Awards for Best independent Artist and Best Hip Hop album. Plus their national tour for Summerland was the biggest tour in their history.

This year was going to be the R & R year with no touring, but after repeated requests, they’re doing a one-off East Coast Tour and one of the main shows is Melbourne on Friday July 24.

Extra special guests for the tour are Koolism.

The tour coincides with the release of the Elefant Traks 10th Anniversary Party DVD – filmed in late November 2008 at the soldout Forum show. Artists on the DVD include Astronomy Class, Horrorshow, Hermitude, Urthboy, Unkle Ho, The Tongue and The Herd.

Marking the International Year Of Astronomy with style: hip hop group Astronomy Class release their second album. The album sees producers Sir Robbo and Chasm build on their signature reggae-blessed hip-hop, brought to life so magically on their 2006 debut, Exit Strategy, while dipping deeper into the sweet soul of Motown’s yesteryear. Ozi Batla makes a welcome return to the mic, brimming with confidence following The Herd’s AIR and J Award winning, ARIA top ten album, Summerland. He delivers his own lyrical stamp on the trials and tribulations of modern life, crafting a sharp-witted and layered listen. John Maddox (bass) and The Tongue, Vida-Sunshyne; Diafrix; Kween G (KillaQueenz) Ash Grunwald feature generously.

THE HERD – LAST HEADLINE SHOW AND DVD

Despite hanging up their boots for 2009, The Herd have given in to the demands of online fans and are announcing a final Tour (East Coast only).
The tour coincides with the special DVD release of the Elefant Traks 10th Anniversary Party, filmed with 13 cameras in late 2008. The DVD captures the vitality and energy of the Elefant Traks celebration.

It’s been a phenomenally successful 12 months for The Herd: their fourth album Summerland debuting at #7 on the ARIA chart and the resulting tour was the biggest in their history.
They went on to win two AIRA Awards for Best Independent Artist, Best Hip Hop Album, the J Award for Best Music Video as well as being nominated for an ARIA for Best Urban Album. The Herd made their mark once again on Triple J’s Hottest 100 with hit single The King is Dead coming in at #13 and 2020 at #63. Don’t miss this last opportunity to catch the group’s explosive live show.
