Justice & Kaos – Theme Music

Justice and Kaos are widely tipped to be the next big thing in local hip hop circles. Melding commercial sheen with genuine talent, they realise that music is a business and approach it as such. In an industry where performing to more than five people and writing a bio can be perceived as ‘selling out’, the pair’s motivation is actual refreshing. It’s certainly helped them fastrack their careers.

While Justice (the emcee) is largely unknown in mainstream circles, he’s already one of the most successful rappers to come out of Australia. The winner of the prestigious Scribble Jam Emcee Battle in 2004, he was the first non-American to take the title. Since then Justice and his emcee/production partner, Kaos, have been grinding away on local releases. The pair have released several EPs, saw their infamous F.O.B. Mixtape turned into an SBS documentary (Fresh Off the Boat) which aired and was selected to screen at the 2008 BET Urban world Film Festival in New York, as well as winning Best Short Documentary at the 2009 Chicago Intenational Movies & Music Festival. and were nominated for an ARIA.

The guys have their debut album set for release later this year. In the meantime, you can pick up their album sampler, Theme Music, and catch them live at Miss Libertine this Friday May 7.The Theme Music album prelude is the first official release from J&K since 2007’s ARIA-nominated Turn It On . The 6-track EP is a teaser of things to come from the debut LP, slated for late 2010/early 2011.
