In Melbourne there is a twenty-something creating New-Wave Rap Music that has a refreshing sound and organic feel. He goes by the name of simply Ry, and has been building his base for the past few years with Mixtapes, EP releases and Videos.
Ry’s latest offering is an EP called Wall Street, which has already garnered attention locally, and is bound to make an impact not just within the Hip Hop/Rap Genre but Australian Music in general. Featuring Production from up and comers C1 and Soul Marauder, Wall Street combines an 80’s cinematic vibe with an up-tempo retro feel. The featured single, Working Late – paints a picture where you can envision the credits rolling at the end of a movie, and the underdog finally walking away with a victory.
Working Late is an underdog’s rap anthem, with organic verses and melodic choruses provided by Allday. The cinematic canvas that producer C1 has laid down, allows Ry to paint a portrait and tale of hard work, persistence and reward.
Originally recorded in C1’s studio apartment, this song set the standard and sound that Ry wanted to capture when beginning the EP Wall Street. The Wall Street EP is being launched nationally in early 2013, with the EP showing rapid development over the past 12 months. Ry – Wall Street EP is available now.
