Illy has announced the release of his forthcoming album Cinematic on Friday 8 November via ONETWO.
“I decided on the title Cinematic because the album plays like a movie and is true to a vision,” says Illy of the new release. “This will be my fourth album in five years; I’ve learned a lot and directed this experience into Cinematic. The concepts are tighter, the hooks are more finessed and the beats are off the chart!”
Cinematic was recorded over the past year at Executive Producer M-Phazes’ Melbourne studio. Jan Skubiszewski, Styalz Fuego and Cam Bluff have also contributed to the production of the album which features guest appearances from Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather and Kira Puru.
New single, Youngbloods featuring Ahren Stringer from The Amity Affliction premiered at radio today and will be available on Friday 27 September. The album is also preceded by the first single On & On, a genre-defying mix of indie, synth-pop, glitch-hop and rap.
Cinematic marks the first release on Illy’s own label ONETWO, which is a joint venture with his long-standing management company UNIFIED. ONETWO will be announcing further acts shortly as part of the label.
Fans can preview tracks from Cinematic at Illy’s September capital city headline tour in September. Illy will be joined on the road by an impressive line-up including Tuka, Allday and Elemont.
As part of the launch of Cinematic, Illy will be giving away GoPro cameras to launch an innovative Instagram competition. Fans will be able to win their very own GoPro at the upcoming Illy tour, by following clues via his feed, which reveal the secret location of a hidden GoPro. Illy has just returned from Europe, where he performed at the Hip-Hop Kemp Festival in the Czech Republic headlined by Kendrick Lamar and De La Soul. He also performed a last minute club show in Berlin and a sold-out show at London’s Barfly Club.
