Sydney Hip Hop heroes Big Village are collaborating with Newtown brewers Young Henrys to bring you “Big Village Brew”.
To celebrate they are throwing a launch party of epic proportions, with Big Village’s current A list, including JJJ favourites Suburban Dark feat. Jeswon (Thundamentals), P.Smurf (Daily Meds) and Rapaport (Loose Change). Support acts include local legends Reverse Polarities, Tenth Dan and Grub featuring Young Henrys very own Hamish, equally known for both his brewing and beat making skills. Mute X Roleo round out the bill, with Mute MC on the rhymes, and beats by Daily Meds bass driven producer Roleo.
Headliner’s Suburban Darks recent release is a game changer for Big Village as the label continues to diversify their sound. “Skeletonne” is a classic beat driven number with an added dark yet insatiable electronic loop and vocals that you can’t get out of your head. JJJ and FBi have both been right behind this track adding both this and their second single “Mind Reader” on high rotation.
Reverse Polarities consist of 2 members from 2013 top 9 AMP finalists Daily Meds. They are one of Big Village’s earliest formed acts, playing there first show together in 2005. These guys are veterans of the Innerwest Hip Hop scene and renowned for their politically charged rhymes and rapid fire lyrics. With there new album due out in November this is one act not to miss.
Beer and hip hop in the inner west have always been a likely combination. Young Henrys and Big Village have now bottled it. Also, them crazy medheads (Daily Meds) have just dropped a free album called ‘Free Shit Volume 2′ – a collection of solo tracks, instrumentals, remixes, Meds tracks and even an acapella. You can grab that below.
Big Village Brew will be available in a limited release so get down to the brewery or keep your eyes peeled for it to be available at your local watering hole.
