Focus is everything for fast-rising Queensland talent Savo in 2014. Returning to his home in the lush tropics after a stint in Sydney, the last 12 months have been productive for the small cane farming town of Innisfail’s finest hip-hop talent.
Since the launch of his long-awaited mixtape Worth The Wait in April 2013, which topped over 46,000 downloads (and counting), the 21-year-old emcee has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on his first official release on Bomb Squad Presents, all-the-while earning praise from names like 360 and M-Phazes for his performances as part of the Sprung Festival Tour and created a social media storm with over 40,000 fans on Facebook and over 1 million plays on Soundcloud – all without an official single on the board!
That all changes with the release of his 9-track behemoth Focus on Bomb Squad Presents, featuring production by Cam Bluff (Illy, Spit Syndicate, 360, Mantra) and a host of international producers.
Much like Savo isn’t your typical hip hop artist, Focus isn’t just another generic hip hop release. Despite boasting nine tracks, the young talent insists it’s still only an “EP” – a bold statement for sure, but definitely saying something about the depth of talent displayed on his debut. Effortlessly traversing between classic hip-hop vibes, slow jams and modern, electro-inspired club anthems without breaking so much as a sweat, Focus displays the full spectrum of raw talent on display from this Far North Queensland innovator.
