Off the back of recent performances at Groovin’ The Moo and triple j’s One Night Stand, hip hop artist Illy recently announced a small run of regional tour dates across NSW in late October. The dates are the fourth in a series of tour announcements taking place each fortnight over a 10 week period.
With shows in regional Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland already announced, Illy is excited to be bringing his new album Cinematic back to these regions. Here is what Illy had to say about the regional NSW dates via his Facebook page, as well as providing a hint towards the next announcement:
“Hey dudes so here’s the fourth and final run of regional dates for the back half of the year, this time in NSW. Only a few dates this time around but some places I have been waiting to hit for a long time… In two weeks’ time I will be announcing the final shows for the year. I am beyond excited about these particular shows. Biggest of my career. So if you live in a capital city, keep an eye out.”
Illy’s fourth studio album Cinematic debuted at #4 on the ARIA album chart back in November 2013, which was his first top 10 debut and the second highest first week sales by an Australian hip hop artist in 2013. The most recent single taken from the album, Tightrope, recently achieved Platinum Status in Australia ticking over 70,000 sales.
Recorded with Executive Producer M-Phazes (Eminem, Kimbra, Bliss n Eso), Cinematic is a tale of a smart and idealistic hip-hop storyteller who put everything on the line through honing his craft and sheer hard work. It’s all part of the mosaic that makes up Illy: his relatable persona, hip-hop nous and lyrical smarts have cemented him as one of Australia’s most exciting artists. The album features guest appearances from Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather and Kira Puru.
Illy won Best Urban Artist at the 2013 ARIA Awards for his previous album Bring It Back. Illy kick started 2014 landing two entries in the triple j hottest 100, with his triple j like a version mega medley arriving at #66, following Youngbloods featuring Ahren Stringer at #77.
