Award winning Canadian hip-hop outfit Swollen Members have announced the dates for their upcoming headlining tour of Australia in September in support of their recently released new album “Brand New Day”.
Formed in 1992 during the golden era of hip-hop, Swollen Members have released many successful albums and collaborated with the likes of Jurassic 5, Nelly Furtardo, Everlast and Dilated Peoples.
In 1996 Swollen Members were initiated into the Rock Steady Crew. Swollen Members is one of only three rap groups affiliated with Rock Steady, others include Dilated peoples and The Arsonists.
The mid 2000’s saw Swollen Members’ song ‘Heavy’ feature in SSX3, WWE Day of reckoning and WWE Smackdown! Vs RAW. Several more albums followed featuring collaborations with Tech N9ne, ICP, Talib Kweli and La Coka Nostra.
Now in 2014 in a world where social media dominates and many rap groups from the Golden Era have struggled to maintain popularity, Swollen Members have flourished, amassing over 50 million plays on Youtube and hundreds of thousands of followers on Facebook. On top of the group’s success Madchild has taken his solo career to new heights with several successful solo album releases and a rapidly growing catalogue of hit singles and music videos.
He also competed in the prestigious KOTD rap battle league which saw him take a memorable win. Enthusiasm among Australian followers is reaching feverish levels as Madchild and Swollen Members now return to Australia for the first time in 10 years for the tour the fans demanded.
With the release of their latest album ‘Brand New Day’, Swollen Member’s huge online following has given them the opportunity to relaunch their record label Battleaxe Records. Their new collaboration with Australian promoter 8 Ball Entertainment promises to offer the highly-anticipated landmark tour that Australian fans have been looking forward to.
Fans from the Golden Era, dedicated fans, enthusiastically titled Warriors and fans from the new generation: DO NOT MISS what promises to be the live hip-hop tour of the year!
