‘You Won’t Be the One’ is the new single from Marksman Lloyd’s EP ‘Rewrite the Ending’.
Produced by Die High’s own JL, ‘You Won’t Be the One’ is a synth driven anthem dedicated to anyone that feels like their dreams are being subdued by their lot in life. A rebuttal of the underdog and the call to arms for anybody fighting to be heard. A song intended to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand in attention – Marksman Lloyd’s Karate Kid crane kick moment.
Those familiar with previous material will notice the change in direction producer JL brings to the soundscape, whilst lyrically the track echoes the passionate ethos Marksman is known for. Whisky Winter lends his soaring vocals to the chorus and displays the incredible range fans of his have come to expect.
Marksman has been performing since the age of 15 at local hip hop workshops and spent his formative years on the freestyle battle circuit winning Scribble Jam Western Australia in 2006.
With a resume that now boasts shows in the U.S and Singapore, Marksman has shared the stage with international artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Brother Ali, Action Bronson, P-Money and Blu & Exile. Marksman has also performed at festivals throughout Western Australia including the Perth International Arts Festival and Hyperfest alongside acts such as Seth Sentry and Grey Ghost. His debut EP ‘Lions on the Beach’ was released to glowing praise and scored airplay via national radio including triple j while also undertaking his first headline tour across capital cities.
Inspired by socially conscious artists like Atmosphere and Black Star, Marksman has crafted a style of music focused on changing the way we look at the world we live in. A love of poetry has also lead Marksman to showcase his works at numerous spoken word events resulting in numerous appearances and runner-up honours at the Australian Poetry Slam at the Sydney Opera House.
Through good old fashioned hard work, Marksman Lloyd has been on an organic trajectory in the hip hop scene over the last two years. The release of new EP ‘Rewrite the Ending‘ and single ‘You Won’t Be The One‘ will continue his artistic endeavours at a national level and convert many along the way.
