Fresh off the back of new albums, Sydney crews Astronomy Class and Daily Meds are set to perform at one of the city’s most beloved events – Newtown Festival.
They will be joining a long list of hip hop dignitaries who have previously performed at the festival, including Thundamentals, The Herd, Hermitude, Spit Syndicate, Home Brew, Tuka and many more.
One of Sydney’s largest community events, Newtown Festival is the annual fundraiser for Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Over 80,000 people come together each year to experience its eclectic showcase of music, the arts and grassroots creativity.
This year, the Festival is a cheeky celebration of Australia’s newest micronation – Newtown Republic. With three stages devoted to live music, Newtown’s Day of Independence will be celebrated with a vibrant, wildly-diverse lineup.
On top of this, the Kids Zone, Eco Zone, Dog Show, Live Art Hub and Writers’ Tent will be back with their own stellar line-ups. Standouts include local artists Phibs, Peque and Unique painting live throughout the day, a brand-new kid’s workshop space, and author talks from Graeme Simsion, the three Moriarty sisters and the beloved Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.
The Festival is set to be held on Sunday the 9th November, at its annual home in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. Full program details can be found here.
Newtown Festival is made possible by the generous contributions from sponsors, the local community, artists, entertainers and volunteers – and importantly your gold coin donation.
