Tkay Maidza Switch Lanes (Prod. Paces)

New Single ‘Switch Lanes’ & National Tour

Tkay Maidza has been seducing the rap-game and ravers alike with her neon-bright beats and razor-quick emcee flow. After causing a global sensation with her last single, the playfully sharp ‘U-Huh’ and it’s video she is set to release her debut EP, ‘Switch Tape’ through Dew Process, out October 24th. Today, she premieres her latest track from the release, ‘Switch Lanes’ that shows a different direction from her self-confessed ‘bratty rap’ – a smooth, soulful voice that melts over steel-drum percussion.

2014 has seen the eighteen-year-old Tkay take on the globe – with high profile collaborations alongside the likes of Night Slugs’ Bok Bok, prolific hometown producer Kilter, Berlin’s bass-maestro Must Die! and beatmasters Swick & Lewis Cancut for ‘Wishes’ released through Ryan Hemsworth’s ‘Secret Songs’ label. That is, of course, when she’s not casually dropping her own highly acclaimed singles.

‘Switch Lanes’ sees Tkay team up with Gold Coast producer Paces, simultaneously fierce and coy, her vocals range from the sugary chorus to resolute rap – with tropical synths and a calypso-infused slow-build the pair have created the perfect summer anthem!

On the eve of the release of her debut EP ‘Switch Tape’, Keep your eyes and ears peeled to Tkay’s official soundcloud in the coming days for her epic ‘Switch Tape’ Mixtape. Mixed by Tkay’s longtime producer / collaborator as well as tour DJ, Elk, ‘Switch Tape’ premieres Friend Within’s brand new track ‘The Monochrome’, collaborations with local prodigies Kilter, Motez, Carmada and Paces. Also featured is Skrillex protégé Must Die! and Mad Decent alumni Swick with Lewis Cancut, as well as Tkay’s personal take on SBTRKT’s ‘Everybody Knows.’

Fresh off the Listen Out stages across the country, she has inked a global booking deal with The Agency Group (home to A$AP Rocky, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Angle Haze, A$AP Ferg, Vic Mensa + more) just in time for a run of international dates through the USA and UK, including CMJ, returning home in November for a national headline tour, some opening slots for Illy and sets at Queenscliff Festival, The Falls Music & Arts Festivals and Southbound.
