Keep On is the first film clip from Koolta’s upcoming album Revolutions Per Minute. It follows on from the success of previous single All Together which received positive reviews from critics and fans alike as well as airplay from triple j, Unearthed and community radio nationwide.
Keep On marks a significant change in both sound and visuals from the Adelaide hip hop artist’s previous work. It’s the first song that features entirely sung vocals from an artist who usually raps. Koolta explains – “When I was producing the music, I felt the beat needed an extra layer; I jumped on the mic and started humming some tunes that might fit and then ended up freestyling the singing that you now hear. I stepped back and thought, there is something in this. I tried to re-record the main take but just couldn’t capture that original unrehearsed, unwritten feeling. It’s ended up being my favourite track on the album.”
This intimate clip was confronting for the artist to film and watch, “I find it difficult to watch the clip now, as I’m taken back to the raw emotion I was feeling when I originally recorded the song”. Keep On demonstrates the growth and maturity of Koolta as an artist and shows why he is definitely one to watch.
Koolta is celebrating the release with launch party in Adelaide at Soundpond Bar on November 14th. The launch will be live video streamed on soundpond.net
