Big Village Records are delighted to announce the signing of a new act, SOUL BENEFITS, who are set to release their debut full length album on the label in early 2015.
Soul Benefits are a 3 man crew from Western Sydney who formed back in 2010 consisting of rappers MC Storme, Young Supreme, MC / producer / DJ The 26th Letter. Although all around 20yrs old, the trio boast’s a refined sound inspired by a blend of golden era 90s boom bap, classic funk and soul, and current hip hop and electronica.
Soul Benefits are a unique voice for Sydney’s Western suburbs, their proud expression of their New Zealand heritage and culture has resonated deeply with the diverse cultural communities of the area, along with a no bullshit depiction of the struggles of growing up in the suburbs.
We crew here at Big Village have been huge fans of these prolific young MCs for a while, on all levels of their music making, from their deft lyrical precision and effortless laidback delivery to their direct engagement with their audience, building of their own branding and clothing and most of all the welcoming and intoxicatingly joyful energy they bring when on stage.
We are absolutely thrilled to be inviting SB into the BV familia, and sharing our skills, resources and work ethic with such a promising and positive group of guys, and we look forward to making 2015 a memorable year with their first official release.
