Hugh Winterflood, aka Skank & James Shakeshaft, aka Shake are revelling in the afterglow of an awesome couple of years. This time saw Skank support massive acts including Horrorshow, Obie Trice, Drapht and The Tongue. He played Big Day Out in Perth, then after joining musical forces with Shake, the duo performed at Stand Up Hip Hop Festival Brisbane, Bass in The Grass NT and Wide Open Space fest.
They supported Briggs and played at both Territory shows on The Cosby Sweater Tour supporting the Hilltop Hoods in Alice Springs and Darwin. Recently, they were selected to receive a mentoring experience with Footstomp Records after an incredible showcase at the iNTune Alice music conference.
“Skank and Shake, blew the panelists away with their unique Central Australian sound and energetic performance at the iNTune music showcase.”
Amongst this, Skank & Shake worked on an album called ‘The Long Road Ahead’, produced by Shake. Shake’s production is reggae and dub influenced which is paired with Skank’s story telling and NT styled raps. They have completed work on The Long Road Ahead with a single, ‘Road Trip feat: Elsie Lange’ which is out today! Footstomp Music Director, Graham Ashton says “They are poised to connect with a national audience.”
