Join Lady Poise, Sear and Store at Carclew for hands-on graffiti art workshops.
Carclew’s CANS returns during May 2015 with a cohort of artists of international calibre, whose works feature in spaces and streets across Australia.
CANS workshops provide local artists, from beginners to the more experienced, with the opportunity to develop their design skills and practical techniques under the guidance of professional artists.
This year workshops offer technique development and design support with POISE, SEAR, and STORE in the lead up to each participant painting a temporary wall in Victoria Square. The works will then be on display in the prominent central square of Adelaide CBD for one week. Read more about the artists.
A total of nine places will be offered in the CANS program. It is expected that participants will be available for all of the dates as listed below. Applicants must be aged 18 – 26 years.
Poise: Lady Poise, poise by name, poise by nature. With gumball lips, a 50’s do and modelling the latest op shop inspired wares, her femme fatale characters tell a story riddled with fun. A background in graffiti script that has developed from a self-taught style, Poise has sustained an artistic career that began as a teenage Graffiti Writer in the 80’s.
Sear: A sarcastic sense of humour, the heavy influence of Saturday morning cartoon punch, National Geographic drama and text soaked, screen printed, punk rock posters is apparent in Searious Jones’ work.
Store: Store has been a dominant force in the Adelaide aerosol community for more than a decade. Store has worked for many years as a mentor and delivering skills workshops in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and has recently embarked on focussing his incredible talents on tattooing.
