Local musical artists Nicole Millar and Zuri Akoko have come together to collaborate on a series of unlikely covers, which include: 50 Cent’s classic ’21 Questions’; ‘Bo Peep (Do You Right)’ by Shlohmo; and Mya’s RnB classic ‘My Love Is Like… Wo’.
To compliment this series, Nicole and Zuri enlisted the help of local up and coming fashion videographer Fling Fling, who’s visual style the girls have long been fans of. Together they wanted to present a self-styled visual of the girls in their own environment. Shot at Zuri’s home studio in her native Manly, the video portrays the girls’ individual sense of style and sees them discuss their love of exploring new ways to collaborate with the talented people around them.
Nicole Millar has just come off the back of the huge success of her ARIA award winning, Triple Platinum selling Peking Duk collaboration ‘High’, which also landed at #2 in this year’s triple j Hottest 100. This latest work is a perfect example of Nicole’s love for bringing the local art scene, music and fashion together.
Zuri Akoko caught the eye of tastemakers in 2014 with her intricate remix of Oscar Key Sung’s Holograms. Her knack for creating powerfully emotive beats entwined with delicate sounds has her infiltrating community radio and her name is hot on the lips of JJJ’s Unearthed presenters.
