DMC World DJ Championships celebrate 30 years

Perth heat Friday August 14th at the Rocket Room

It’s that time of year again with the DMC World DJ Championships coming back to Australia, this time to celebrate 30 years of turntablism.
The Perth heat takes place in just over 2 weeks on Friday 14th August at the Rocket Room, Northbridge. Nominations are still open.

The National heat will be held at the Laundry Bar in St Kilda, VIC on Friday 11th September.
Hosted by local emcee Adam Crook and DJs the 30th year celebration is an event not to miss.
Past Perth winners have included Zeke who is the IDA Australasian Champ and DJ Midsole who has won the Perth heat three times running.

Zeke and Midsole will both be showcasing their skills with individual sets on the night.
Organised by Perth premiere hip-hop events company, Down Under Ground Events, the DMC Championships gives Perth turntablists the opportunity to showcase their skills amongst their peers.
Started in London, UK in 1983 the DMC DJ Championships was the world’s first remix service for DJs and helped shaped the remix culture worldwide with its’ “DMC Remix Cassettes/Records”.

Through this exclusive DJ only club, DMC played a pivotal role in launching a new breed of DJs “the DJ/Producer”. 
DMC was also the first organization to host the international “World DJ Championships” which was held for the first time in 1985 and since then has given birth to many renown DJs of today including DJ Q Bert, Mix Master Mike, Cash Money, Roc Raida (RIP), Noise, Craze, A Trak, Kentaro, Rafik and the list goes on.
