Next Step is the title track from Kerser’s eagerly anticipated 5th LP Next Step.
The new video perfectly captures the ABK crew in their absolute element. The smoky mono backdrop profiles the gritty feel of the street, with Kers and his close mates chilling and reflecting on the simple things in life. The melodious hook is addictive and reminds everyone that loyalty to crew ranks above all else.
The track, produced by US’s John Andrew, who Kers has dubbed one of his favourite producers on the planet, needed to have an accompanying video to do it’s polished sound justice. Though having worked with many directors, this visual project was a particular favourite of the Kings’; “Steve Guzman directed and edited this clip. He was amazing to work with. We both vibed over the song and then came up the best concept to suit the song visually”. – Kerser
For Kerser, who is now on the precipice of releasing his fifth album entitled Next Step on Friday 13 November (available for pre-order now), much has changed. He now has his own label in ABK Records, a venture supported and distributed by ADA (Warner Music Australia) and the Campbelltown emcee has also enlisted the expertise of Sinima Beats to provide the soundtrack to Next Step. In doing so a brand new sound has emerged for the King of Australia’s underground hip hop scene.
