💥 Marksman Lloyd – Gene Simmons💥

Marksman Lloyd drops new single Gene Simmons (feat. Anders)

After just wrapping up a national headline tour in support of his new EP ‘Portals’, Marksman Lloyd is throwing all attention towards newly crowned fan favourite ‘Gene Simmons’. Co-produced by Alvyn Tan and Jia Lih and featuring fellow Perth rising star Anders, Gene Simmons is an undeniable jam with a house driven feel, showcasing yet another dynamic of Marksman’s versatility.

An affirmation of love and the ridiculousness of the whole dance, the song originally came to Marksman in a dream (a self-confessed rare occurrence) while he was travelling throughout South East Asia. Compelled to see it through, the core idea then came to life once collaborating with Alvyn in the studio.

Marksman enjoyed a huge 2016 by winning the WAM award for best hip-hop song with ‘Pause’, while his single ‘Seven Laps’ was launched to a sell-out crowd and amassed further triple j and national radio support, surpassing 300,000 Spotify streams in the process. Marksman then supported Drapht on his Australia wide album tour along with Dylan Joel.

Boasting a resume that now includes shows in the U.S and Singapore, Marksman has shared the stage with international artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Action Bronson, P-Money and Blu & Exile. In addition to Drapht, Marksman has also supported Oz acts including Illy, Horrorshow, L-FRESH the LION and joined Peking Duk on stage at Stereosonic in front of 15,000 people.

After spending the first half of 2017 playing some of the biggest shows of his career including the Perth International Arts Festival as well as supporting heavyweights Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Drapht, Thundamentals and joining Seth Sentry on his ‘Play It Safe’ tour, Marksman is spending the second half releasing and touring his strongest material to date. This November Marksman will be performing at WAMFest and is humbled to share that he has been nominated for Best Hip Hop Act at the WAM Awards.

“No matter the room, the time he played or the amount of people he played to – he brought the energy and got everyone in the room moving.” – Drapht (On Marksman playing the ‘Seven Mirrors’ tour) ‘Portals’ EP is out now via Firestarter Distribution feat. ‘Gene Simmons’, ‘NOMO’ and ‘Seven Laps’
