Ahead of the Cherry Blossom Acoustic Tour, Horrorshow are revealing the more stripped back side of their most recent album ‘Bardo State’. Today they drop the official video to their collaboration with Hayley Mary of The Jezabels, a song called ‘After Dark’ that was written after the loss of a close friend of MC Solo’s.
In a track-by-track interview, Solo explains how this song came about, and how it relates to the themes of the new album.
Working with Hayley Mary was always a dream of the duo’s, as Solo explains,
“We’re really big fans of Hayley’s writing… I’ve been a fan of The Jezabels for a long time, and we’ve wanted to do something with Hayley for years, so we finally reached out with this song. I’m glad that it didn’t happen until now, because I feel like this is a really special song, and we are really honoured to have her contribution on there.”
The themes of farewelling a friend, and trying to figure out how to look after the people that are left behind are captured perfectly by filmmaker Rhys Day. Depicting a mysterious journey through the depths of a snaking River, the words echoes, ‘nothing will ever be the same’. ’After Dark feat. Hayley Mary’ is taken from Horrorshow’s 4th studio album ‘Bardo State’, out now on Elefant Traks
