B-Town Warriors stand strong with Rewrite Your Story

Rewrite Your Story comes from a group of 100% Indigenous women who live in the constant shadow of grief and trauma. This story is a challenge to all Indigenous people to rise up and challenge the status quo. Through love, support, community and culture we can change our world.

Created in only 5 days in the remote community of Bourke in far Western NSW, this production is another outcome of a Desert Pea Media community project with a group of young Indigenous people enrolled at Bourke High School.

Desert Pea Media projects involve a dialogue-based storytelling process that encourages participants to analyse ‘the real’, ‘the ideal’ and ‘the bridge’. In simple terms this means critically thinking about how to create positive change for individuals, for each other and for our communities.

September 21st 2016 propelled B-Town Warriors from remote school kids into online sensations with a banging 8k Facebook shares and 265k views after its premiere on Noisy (VICE). Impressive! The entire production of this fierce song and clip took place over 5 days in October. Featuring musician, producer and songwriter Carlo Santone (Blue King Brown).

“To see these works being supported by the wider community has an amazing effect on our collective societal mindset and culture. I’m honoured to be a part of it,” says Carlo Santone.
