Today Nike has announced the global launch of the Nike Epic React Flyknit, their most innovative running shoe to date which has been created with cutting edge, patented Nike React foam and will be available in Australia from 22nd February at Nike.com and select retailers for AUD $220.

Innovators, chemists, engineers and designers have come together to create this world first for Nike; offering a running foam that simultaneously cushions the foot and withstands wear and tear, all without compromising on the light weight feeling.

The Nike React foam is significantly softer than traditional EVA-based foams, meaning the runner can easily spring over bumps in the road. The midsole was created with computational design, ensuring cushioning was delivered to areas of the foot that need extra support during a run.

The upper and midsole both sit along one solid piece of foam, eliminating unnecessary extra material in order to keep weight to a minimum, while the flyknit upper provides flexibility and breathability, being minimal yet supportive.

Additional features of the Epic React Flyknit:
There is an additional segment of rubber under the forefoot and heel for added traction and to help enhance the shoe’s durability
Designers extended the midsole beyond the perimeter of its upper around the heel to avoid “bottom-ing out,” a feature common in running shoes
The patterning on the shoe varies in depth, to indicate areas of more cushioning, while shallow portions produce greater firmness

The Nike Epic React Flyknit will be available February 22 on nike.com and at select retailers.
