Debut EP Kin / Out May 4 2018
Following its debut live performance at 4ZZZ’s Put Us First Festival Afterparty (also featuring May Lyn & REBEL YELL), Brisbane/Meanjin-based musician, producer, visual artist & streetwear label owner G Elenil today shares the cinematic visuals for her “seductive RnB dance tune” ‘GoodTime’, premiered on triple j Home and Hosed earlier this month.
Directed by local collective Que Film, the clip for ‘Good Time’ swaps “footage” of a carefree celebration the night before the end of the world as we know it with cinematic, sweeping visuals of the last two people left alive. On the run through the unrestrained glory of the natural world and the dark, cold feelings of hurt and isolation, their inherent connection is the thing that keeps them moving through this new, uncertain universe.
The second single from her debut EP Kin, ‘GoodTime’ weighs washed-out piano chords against undeniable vocal hooks, the track is co-produced by G herself alongside ascendant local beatmaker/musician tomtom (Miss Blanks, May Lyn).
Thanks in no small part to her explosive live presence, G has shared stages with the likes of Little Simz (UK), Futuristic (USA), Miss Blanks, Jesswar, Midas.Gold, Carmouflage Rose, Nico Ghost, Swilo, Genesis Owusu, The Harpoons and make guest appearances at Listen Out, Laneway & BIGSOUND via her verse on the scene-defining Fempre$$ Cypher.
G will appear at the next Fempre$$ event the day of her EP release on Friday 4 May at The Flamin’ Galah.
Kin’s effervescent lead single ‘SOMETHING’ garnered support on FBi Radio, PBSFM, 4ZZZ and many more, with G also finding fans at triple j and more. Kin is an unbound diary of a complicated family’s experiences with financial stress, neglect and addiction – and a testament to those around us that shape who we are.
Kin is set for independent release on Friday May 4 2018.
