Box Hill Institute Announces Australia’s First Accredited Hip Hop Diploma
Box Hill Institute is excited to announce the introduction of Australia’s first accredited hip hop diploma – Diploma of Music Industry (Specialising in Urban Music), designed for artists who want to produce, manage and develop their own career.
Australia’s hip hop industry has evolved considerably since the Hilltop Hoods broke into the mainstream with its 2003 album, The Calling, and Box Hill Institute is proud to reveal that some of Australia’s leading hip hop artists are on board to deliver the new diploma.
Teaching staff include:
· N’fa Jones – member of 1200 Techniques, first Australian hip-hop act to win an ARIA, signed to independent record label House of Beige created by Remi and Sensible J
· Dave Norris aka Dizz1 – a producer’s producer, Dizz1 has written tracks with Roots Manuva and Aloe Blacc, performs as a DJ and session drummer, Ableton Live master
· Syrene Favero aka Creamy Spies – artist, writer, creative producer and filmmaker, worked with House of Beige, Remi, Sampa the Great
· Rob Tremlet aka Mantra – Melbourne MC, worked with Drapht, Urthboy, Illy, M-Phazes, El Gusto, Promoe, and Mista Savona, third album, Telling Scenes, named by Rolling Stone as “one of the Hip-Hop records of the year”
The one year intensive diploma will cover a combination of music management, hip hop production, songwriting and performance techniques, and will see students producing work, performing live, completing a video clip and learning how to market themselves.
Students will have access to a world class venue, recording studios and production suites, and will be mentored through the process of making and releasing music to kick start their hip hop career.
