Fall from Grace – a solo exhibition by Rone

Best known for the distinctive female centrepieces of his paste ups and murals on the walls of Melbourne, globetrotting street artist Rone returns to his home town for his first local show of 2012 in the more conventional surroundings of Collingwood’s Backwoods Gallery. Fall from Grace sees Rone continue to showcase his female muse, but in a different light across 12 new works – four on canvas (including one triptych), four on brick and four on paper, all peeled, tattered and aged to reflect the outdoor environment he’s accustomed to working in. Fall from Grace explores the idea of personal change … Continue reading Fall from Grace – a solo exhibition by Rone

Young & Free – San Francisco

Some call Australia the ‘lucky country’, but we’ve always made our own fate. From a rebellious past we’ve forged an identity steeped in cunning ingenuity, creative discontent and unorthodox flair.  We’ve staged rebellions over rum, gained notoriety and won Nobels. We invented cask wine and Wi-Fi and we’ve won countless world titles. There may not be a lot of us, but we’ve always packed a punch. So it is no surprise that with nothing more than a can of paint and a glint in their eye Australians are taking the street art scene by storm. It’s time for the rest … Continue reading Young & Free – San Francisco

Meggs and Rone feature in The Underbelly Project

In 2009 a project began four stories underneath the skin of New York. For 100 years, a massive subway station sat unfinished, unused, undiscovered. Over the course of the last year, artists have been secretly escorted into that station to leave their creative mark. Unobstructed by the pressures of commercial sales, email, or daily routines, each artist painted for one full night. The original entrance has since been removed and darkness has reclaimed the station. It has become an elusive pirate treasure of contemporary art. Welcome to The Underbelly Project. More details of the project have come to light in … Continue reading Meggs and Rone feature in The Underbelly Project

Dropping in September, The Everfresh: Blackbook provides a pictorial insight into the life of the iconic Melbourne studio, spanning from 2004-2010.
