Bliss N Eso – 600 Sounds Festival

The headline acts at this year’s Armor All Gold Coast 600 have been joined by ARIA Award winning Sydney hip hop sensation Bliss N Eso to complete the two-night lineup for the October event. One of the great Australian success stories in the world of hip hop MC Bliss, MC Eso and DJ Izm have been rapping together from their high school days and been the leaders in their field since the launch of their debut release in 2000.

The trio complete the Friday night component of the 600 Sounds Festival of the Armor All Gold Coast 600 at the Broadwater Parklands, a bill which also includes huge names Drapht, The Potbelleez, Bag Raiders, Tonite Only and Illy. Legendary rock acts the Hoodoo Gurus, Eskimo Joe and Masters Apprentices will blast out some homegrown hits at the Saturday night concert before famous Scottish band Simple Minds close the show. The Armor All Gold Coast 600, which will feature some of the world’s greatest drivers in V8 Supercars on the streets of Surfers Paradise, is partnered with 600 Sounds for a unique rock and race format, which has proved a massive success. A three-day general admission ticket to the Armor All Gold Coast 600, starting at just $136.00, gives you three full days of racing action and admission to both nights of the 600 Sounds festival. Tickets to the Armor All Gold Coast 600 are available from ticketek.com.au or 132 849.

MC Bliss said that Bliss N Eso’s inclusion at the 600 Sounds Festival was going to be another unique experience in their growing list of headline performances.
“We’ve recently played at one of the V8 Supercars events in Darwin which was awesome and the boys and I are really looking forward to performing at the Gold Coast 600 event”
“Our friends Drapht & Illy will be playing as well so it’s going to be a massive night of hip-hop after a long day of burning rubber around the track”
Bliss is originally from the US, moving to Australia in his early teens.
“When I got to Australia, I met Eso and he was the only guy at my school into hip-hop. It was so scarce you’d be lucky to find a hip-hop record in a store let alone a whole section,” said Bliss.
“Back then hip hop was basically non-existent; there was no urban or hip-hop section in the CD stores. You’d be lucky to find a couple of albums like a Public Enemy album or something if you went to the CD stores.
“So I guess that’s one of the reasons why Max, who’s Eso, and I kinda bonded at high school, I think, because he was really the only other guy in the school who was into hip-hop.”

Eso’s Rapper Tag has clicked over 82,000 views, making it the highest viewed so far!

The trio has been recognised with several ARIA nominations and a win in 2008 for the Best Urban Release for Flying Colours. They are regulars on the national and international music festival scene playing at the Big Day Out, Splendour in the Grass, Homebake and the Telus World Festival in Canada, to name a few. Their compelling and energetic live performances have cemented them as one of Australia’s best live acts, according to V8 Supercars Chairman and the driving force behind the 600 Sounds Festival, Tony Cochrane
“Bliss N Eso are a fantastic Australian product and having them on the bill cements an amazing and diverse line-up at 600 Sounds,” said Cochrane.
“While they come under the banner of hip hop, their style has really been accepted by a couple of generations in this country – they are a fantastic live act.
“Bliss N Eso have a growing fan base around the country and internationally and we are looking forward to hosting many of them at a really unique venue on the Gold Coast in October.”

In March last year, in a fundraising effort for the Victorian bushfires in Melbourne hosted the biggest paid concert in Australian history in front of 92,000 fans at the MCG. Bliss N Eso were chosen as the sole hip-hop act on a bill which included some of the biggest acts in Australian music history, and by all accounts, they held their own in “what many are stating was the performance of the day” (Beat Magazine).
