Grey Ghost is a talented musician, filmmaker and graphic artist who has made his mark over several mediums and under seveal names. Starting his music career under the moniker Jeremedy in much-loved Melbourne beat experimentalists The Melodics, his style has snowballed over the past five years, evolving into what is now Grey Ghost.
A triumphant follow up to his debut self titled EP from 2012, The Elixir EP is a robust mix of experimental hip hop and the next evolutionary step forward in Grey Ghost’s career. To bring together this collection of stylistically complex songs, Grey Ghost enlisted producers Jan Skubiszeweski (Way Of The Eagle, The Cat Empire, Owl Eyes, Jackson Jackson), Matik (Drapht, Bliss n Eso) and Styalz Fuego (360, Wiley, The Aston Shuffle).
Title track The Elixir is the first single from the EP and is a song around society’s obsessions with staying young and the fear of death. The video clip was written and directed by Grey Ghost himself (who has previously directed clips for Xavier Rudd, Seth Sentry, Pez, Mantra) and draws inspiration from comedic greats such as Woody Allen and Fawlty Towers. Grey Ghost even cast his own grandmother in the clip.
Legendary mixer Barny Barnicott (Kasabian, MIA, Temper Trap, Arctic Monkeys)added the finishing touches to the EP.
