Skeletonne featuring Jeswon (pron. Jess – One) is the first single taken from Suburban Dark’s (Sydney based production duo) forthcoming LP, Second Front. The track is pure turbo, a testament to old skool, hard out bangers.
A venomous combination of hard breaks and razor sharp raps, Skeletonne was quickly snapped up for rotation by Triple j. A dirty, grimey tune that is sure to test Sydney’s boundaries in Hip-Hop and Electronica alike.
Featured MC Jeswon is 1/3 of Thundamentals, one of Australia’s most influential and well-respected Hip-Hop acts. Well known for his high-energy live performances and thought provoking lyrics, Jeswon’s work with Suburban Dark signals a subtle departure into an entirely more brooding, edgy and stylised soundscape.
The video clip follows a misfit through grimy back streets and ominous cityscapes as he puts his parkor skills to the test in some kind of late night ritual. The protagonists anti-social journey unravels as he realises he is being pursued by something symbolic, something sinister lurking in the shadows. The line between nightmare and reality becomes indecipherable and our character is finally confronted by his demons and lured into the unknown.
Best played LOUD, maybe bump it at your local underground rave where the speaker walls are excessive and the subs are grinding.
As the newest signings to burgeoning independent label Big Village Records Suburban Dark are Sydney’s answer to grime, trap and heavy-assed hip-hop. With pulsating bass lines, grinding melodies and unstoppable breaks their sounds are not to be taken lightly.
