Thursday 4th July 2013 will see the launch of a new hip hop night Trapped a bass heavy hip hop night at Oxford Art Factory. The night will see live performances from Rapaport, Laxe and Nowhere Society.
The night will bring together the best base heavy MCs, producers and DJs that Sydney has to offer. Headlining the evening will be Big Village head honcho; Rapaport, in 2009 he independently released his debut solo album Laughing on the Inside, and has won numerous MC battles including FBi Radio Iron Lyricist 2009, and was the runner up in Australian Scribble Jam ‘06. He is now focussed on grime as a solo artist and released the Patterns EP in 2012.
Laxe (pronounced “Lakes“) aka Big Dumb Kid is putting down the microphone and focussing his attention solely on producing crisp and authentic beats, Laxe stays true to his roots by incorporating a love of video games and story telling with a polished formula to exhibit a digital collage of vibrant melodies and neck breaking beats. Laxe brings all of this experience to the table and takes the listener on a journey through valleys and peaks of emotive soundscapes executed with finesse and grace.
Nowhere Society have worked to create a sound that fits right into the electro chill genre with ease. A Lucid Escape provides the ideal balance of meaningful lyrics and intriguing beats. Influenced by Pretty Lights, SBTRKT, Gorillaz & Coldplay. Meeting at a high school music camp, the pair initially shared a game of cards and ultimately bonded over their fine taste in music and childhood growing up abroad.
Between Aarons ability to produce tracks more mature than his years and Grace’s haunting and soulful almost retro inspired vocal tones; the EP is 29 minutes of pure escapism. Nowhere Society are by their own description “chill people who make chill music”.
