The Havknotz are a groundbreaking local Hip Hop trio that have been active in the Sydney music scene for several years. Consisting of established emcee Losty, rock inspired multi-instrumentalist and beat maker, Waza and turntable veteran DJ Kilmer, their sounds is a powerful combination of rap and rock, performed with raw intensity and emotion.
The Havknotz 2011 debut release, The Music-Life-Plan EP met glowing reviews across Australian media. The EP included collaborations with accomplished artists such as Ill Bill (La Coka Nostra), Sadat X (Brand Nubian), Rob Hurst (Midnight Oil), & DJ Morgs to name a few.
Since then, The Havknotz have been on the road supporting top shelf local and international artists such as the Wu Tang Clan, House of Pain, YelaWolf, Method Man & Redman, Necro, He’d P.E, Ill Bill, Bone Thugs & Harmony & many more, as well as festival slots and club gigs. The group has solidly built their reputation as a high quality live act, with a steady growing fan base.
Showcasing their experience, growth and diversity, the trio is back with their long awaited second EP, Rise Above. Drawing from the last 3 years on the road, The Havknotz have constructed seven new tracks on this latest EP, which promises to appeal to a wider audience, while remaining faithful to their original sound.
The first single release is Wild Child featuring vocals by newcomer, Cactus. Losty’s raspy vocal delivery gives a chronological timeline about growing up and learning from his mistakes, while the guitar riff & scratches are prominent throughout the track. In a time when a lot of music follows formulas and protocol, The Havknotz follow no one, and Wild Child certainly showcases their originality. Both EP’s are currently available on iTunes.
