Now in its 35th year, one of Sydney’s largest and longest running free community festivals; Newtown Festival returns Sunday 10 November 2013 to Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. Held as a way to promote and celebrate the diverse Newtown community and raise awareness of the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre and it’s programs, Newtown Festival has grown from its humble beginnings in the late 1970’s to the immensely popular event it is now. Never losing its identity as an event grown for the community, by the community, festival goers are invited to give a gold coin donation at the festival entrance with all money raised returned to the Centre to provide support services to the local community.

The Neighbourhood Centre: Please Donate
With a particular focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable community members, The Newtown Neighborhood Centre supports people through community action and provision of services throughout Sydney’s inner west. This includes their Boarding House Outreach Project, The Community Linking Project (general social support and assistance), Multicultural Neighbour Aid and much much more. All creating a more inclusive, resilient, vibrant and self- reliant inner west Sydney community.

The Newtown Festival is the neighbourhood centre’s primary annual fundraising event and is made possible by the generous contributions of attendees, sponsors, the local community, artists, entertainers and volunteers. The average donation per attendee is less than 50 cents per person and this year the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre is really hoping to get the average donation up towards $1 per person.
