After a massive year, culminating in being awarded the coveted title of Triple j’s Unearthed Artist of the Year, REMi hits the ground running in 2014 with the release of a new single on Friday 7th February followed by a national run of shows supported by N’fa Jones.
REMI’s track record is that of a busy man. 2011 saw the release of two EP’s (‘Childish’ and ‘Five Beats I Love’), and the completion of his first album ‘Regular People Sh#%t’ in 2012. REMi continued to make waves dropping a decidedly big tune in the name of Sangria in May this last year. The track received full rotation on triple j with and is edging towards 90,000 YouTube views.
Sangria hails from a mixtape titled F.Y.G : Act 1 which was nominated on New York’s NPR 2013 Best Albums of 2013 list. The tape finds the 22 year old acting up over an eclectic mix of jams (Gangstarr, Kaytranada) and an impressive set of original tracks (‘Sangria’, second single ‘Saggin’, last year’s acclaimed single ‘Ape’) all produced by in-house team Sensible J & Dutch.
The new single titled ‘Livin’ will be the first taste of what’s to come from REMi’s much anticipated album due for release later this year. Playing to his growing number of fans nationwide this will be one of the last opportunities to catch REMi’s much-hyped live show in such intimate settings following a massive run of high-profile international supports and festival appearances.
N’fa Jones, a fellow member of “The House of Beige Family” and still highly regarded for his work with 1200 Techniques released a string of songs in 2013 including the very well received “Life’s a Game” and has a new single “Money Better Come” due out in Feb also. N’fa will be joining the Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide shows.
Don’t miss one of Australia’s hottest upcoming artists this February, as REMi plays headline shows coast to coast to satiate the demand for his hyped live show. To give you an idea of what he’s capable of check out the cover he recently did of the Avalanches’ ‘Since I left you’ for triple j’s Like a Version.
