IED is the follow up release to Pataphysics’ 2012 debut album Subversive. Recorded, mixed and produced by front man, vocalist and trumpet player Pat Marks (aka Pataphysics) at his 9 Gates studio in Melbourne.
IED (improvised explosive device), Pat is joined by the NZ singer Project nRt and the exceptional jazz guitarist Diego Villata from (Tierra) on the IED (improvised explosive device) recording.
The tracks on the EP are the best representation of the live show on record to date. Pataphysics has built a solid reputation off the back of his energetic and diverse live shows that combine trumpet, bass, keys, MPC, guitar, drums, turntable, percussion, tabla, dolke, panpipes, melodica, spoons, freestyle and beatboxing, he is a revolutionary poet & subversive theorist, with insightful rhymes, in both the English and Sri Lankan language.
Pataphysics is in demand as a writer, composer and producer, he is the man behind the theme music of the SBS TV series Legally Brown, as well as being the DJ/Beat master for the show.
As well as being a Mercury Prize winning Song Writer (Speech Debelle/Ninja Tune 2009), Pataphysics has also produced and remixed many artists including: Speech Debelle, 360 and Pez, Fear of a Brown Planet and Lotek feat Roots Manuva.
