After a month long competition, culminating in a nationwide online public vote; young rapper Chris “Codix” Dixon has been selected to support ARIA Winners Bliss N Eso on the Bendigo leg of their National Tour.
Thanks to a massive online campaign from friends and family, the twenty-four year old not only took out the most votes for the Bendigo entrants of the competition but accumulated more votes than anyone across the entire country.
“I’m pretty stoked,” says Dixon “The support has been crazy. I’ve had people everywhere dropping me messages saying they’d love to see me up on stage.”
The emcee who works tirelessly hosting All Ages Drug & Alcohol Free events across regional Victoria, amassed a whopping 1,665 votes throughout the 10 day public vote; in excess of 500 votes more than in front of his nearest rival; who was also in the running for the Bendigo show.
“I’m a country boy no doubt. I’ve lived in both Gippsland and Central Victoria my whole life. So getting back to where I went to school to play a show in front of thousands is like a childhood dream.”
Codix’s success comes on the back of his song The Inner Me which was entered into the competition and personally shortlisted by the ARIA Winners for the public vote.
“That track is about never giving up on your dreams. Telling every kid who wants to achieve a goal that you can get there. Don’t stop. I guess I’m kind of evidence of that, so it will be cool to perform live.”
The Circus Under The Stars tour will be one of the largest hip-hop tours ever seen in Australia, with over a dozen regional shows across April and May giving opportunities to local emcees to support their idols. Codix can next be seen playing at the Bendigo Showgrounds on Thursday May 15 alongside Bliss N Eso, Seth Sentry and Horrorshow.
Tickets for the all ages show are available online through the Bliss N Eso website.
