Shrewd emcee Mr. Ruckman (evolved from the former Kade MC) has been writing and recording songs for over a decade, toiling away in the underground for several years and generating interest through his passionate music and lively performances.
Mr. Ruckman has grown a lot over the last year, from launching his debut album The Ruckman Record to a full capacity venue in mid 2012 – which saw release on iTunes and into commercial stores, to receiving radio play on the triple j hip hop show.
All before shedding his ‘Kade MC’ shell in the new year of 2013 to become the more matured Mr. Ruckman. Now he’s in the midst of launching his new name alongside his new EP The Born-Again Humanist, released through the legendary label Obese Records.
Mr. Ruckman has performed countless captivating shows across NSW, performing regularly with a dynamic 6-piece band including that of seductive back-up vocalist Christian Hemara and accomplished musicians.
Mr. Ruckman has sparked quite a buzz and built a substantial following with his profound performances, from sharing the stage with such prominent local names as Horrorshow, Dialectrix and Gully Platoon, to supporting international heavyweights Pharoahe Monch and GZA of Wu-Tang.
The Sooner EP is a two part project and follows a simplistic, almost mundane approach in its concept, with each song topic focusing on a specific verb, be it abstract, ironic or just straight literal. Such limitations could be considered a creative-hinderance to an artist, but Mr. Ruckman proves the contrary with refreshingly canny results.
The concept comes from a place of monotony, with Mr. Ruckman feeling as though his passion is stagnant and his life going through the motions. This project is his strive for change and something greater. Mr. Ruckman’s music speaks for itself and Sooner is another fine fingerprint in his durable discography. The future can only tell what will come of The Later.
