Hilltop Hoods and APRA AMCOS are teaming up once again to give one emerging Australian hip hop/soul artist or group $10,000. The initiative will help fund the costs associated with the manufacture, marketing and release of an album, legal advice from Media Arts Lawyers and a Zoo York prize pack will also be included.
The initiative is open to artists around Australia who haven’t previously released an album professionally and who are members of APRA AMCOS. It will be judged by a panel of influential Australian hip hop figures and artists including Hau, Nish, Ran-Dee, Raph and Tommy Illfigga, one of the world’s best beat boxers.
The initiative has opened many doors for emerging Australian hip hop/soul acts. Previous winners include Jimblah, Chelsea Jane, I AM D and RUNFORYOURLIFE.
Applications open 20 January 2015; keep your eye on the APRA AMCOS website for more information in the New Year. More information can be found here.
