Word Heist is the latest project of Sydney based MC Papa Tear who has teamed up with newcomer Super Serious to create an EP that’s all about Sydney and life in the inner-West.
“When we started this project we felt that there was this disconnect between the way Sydney was portrayed to the world and what life is like for people living in this city. Those glossy shots of the Opera House and crowded beaches are great but this cities got so much more, we wanted to try and shine a light on that in the Word Heist EP” – Papa Tear
Since 2007 Papa Tears been carving up his own slice of the Sydney hip hop scene working with artists such as Hyjak, Mistress of Ceremonies, Elderbrook, 5 Finger Discount, BIGREDCAP and Realizm gaining praise for his lyrical versatility and dope flow. Word Heist was formed late last year and Papa Tear and Super Serious have been working hard getting the EP ready for release.
Leading the charge off the upcoming EP is the recently released single Antiperspirant, an introduction to Word Heist with a distinctively vintage sound.
“(The EP) has such an eclectic collection of beats we really struggled to pick a track to put out front but Antiperspirant just had that late night Sydney city vibe that we couldn’t resist.” – Super Serious
