After spending four-years off the radar, the godfather of UK hip-hop Roots Manuva is wasting no time filling the world with his sound once again, today releasing “Don’t Breathe Out” the latest cut from his forthcoming record ‘Bleeds’, set for release Friday, October 30 through Big Dada via Inertia.
From the first bar, “Don’t Breathe Out” is a standalone track compared to the previous offerings from ‘Bleeds’: the Four-Tet-produced “Facety 2:11” and the Switch-produced “One Thing”. The clear cut vocals shine a spotlight on the emotionally charged, spiritually informed narrative of “Don’t Breath Out”.
Speaking of the track, Roots Manuva A.K.A Rodney Smith explained, “Lyrical rogue values in neo-spiritual rare groove, rehash bash on the edge of the funk that made the soul, but seek to refine a modern approximation of ‘Gospel for the out of box thinkers’. Let the funk forgive us for failing to work with the basic mechanism of ‘clap, sing, rap celebrate in the mutated shades of ragga funk, dub funk, techno funk future timeless travel on the lay lines of soul hip-hop fascination.’”
‘Bleeds’ is out Friday, October 30 on Big Dada through Inertia.
