As other mainstream music sites were freaking out over the fact that Matt Okine (triple j morning presenter and straight up funny guy) “just dropped a legit hip hop track ..”, claiming “before you think it’s just another prank by him and co-host Alex Dyson for their morning brekkie show, take a listen” it wasn’t that big of a surprise to us.
Performing under the moniker Boilermakers, and teaming up with super producer and long time collaborator C1 Beats, this is the first taste we’ve had from an upcoming EP yet to be titled. You may have caught some of Matt’s previous work from early on in 2015, if not you can check that out here.
The new track titled fade (nothing at all) sits firmly with the new wave of rap coming through Australia at the moment. Don’t be surprised if you see Boilermakers feature on local tracks in the near future, as he builds towards the EP release and becomes the new wave Hau.
