Iconic Hip Hop Act Resin Dogs are back with a brand new single ‘So Long’ Feat. Kel On Earth. Due for release on Friday April 20 through Hydrofunk Records, the single features the soulful voice of Kel On Earth from Bankrupt Billionaires and is the follow up to last year’s single ‘Como No’ Feat. Essa.
Written after Resin Dogs Dave and Katch had a break after 20 years of creating music together, ‘So Long’started as a beat from Dave’s prolific vault of bangers and became his inspiration to start writing beats that would become the foundations for the new song. Katch had written a different track with a new ‘soul sort of feel’, and after hearing the new beats the collaboration became what was to be the sound of this latest single ‘So Long’.
‘We had always wanted to do some more singing on the new record and discussed a new direction which was what we were both feeling at the time’.
‘It hit me as soon as I heard it. Going through a heavy break up at the time it wasn’t hard to conjure up the emotion to match the heavy pulse of the music. I wrote a verse or two about how long my ex and I had taken to finally end our relationship (hence the lyrics ‘it’s been so long, it’s been too hard’) and Dave, Katch and I got straight to work fleshing it out and making it what it is today, probably the most beautiful song I’ve ever written (collaboratively or otherwise) and ultimately one of the nicest, deepest tunes I’ve heard.’
While ‘So Long’ sounded like a lovers break up song to Kel, for Resin Dogs it represented their love hate relationship with hip hop and music.
‘It was like looking back from where we have come from, to where we are now and saying well … we’re still here just doing it our way after having a break and regrouping after so many projects’.
So here it is after ‘So Long’…
